There are few models that can match the sheer performance of the upcoming 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE, and most are well outside the average buyer’s price range. As it turns out, the legendary muscle car’s latest trim package delivers more power than many drivers think, and to prove it, the automaker put the newest Camaro to the test in Germany on one of the most legendary tracks in the world.
The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE took on Germany’s Nurburgring track, a proving grounds for high-end models like Porsche. The muscle car blew away many competitors by becoming the 14th fastest production car to ever race around the 12.9-mile track.
With a time of just 7:16:04, the Camaro ZL1 1LE topped the Ferrari 488 GTB by more than five seconds. It also beat the 2012 Corvette ZR1’s time of 7:19:63. Spy shots indicate that a high-powered Corvette is currently undergoing testing on the Nurburgring track as well.
The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE delivers an astounding 650 hp from a 6.2-lier supercharged V8 engine. An aerodynamic package, spool valve dampers, and other track-dedicated equipment come standard.
Tackling the track with a record time is no easy matter. Considering the Camaro ZL1 1LE came close to topping the Dodge Viper ACR, the muscle car is worth every penny in our book.
We here at Bill Crispin Chevrolet can’t wait to see the new 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE in person!
