Chevorlet has set the benchmark for track capability with the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE, the most capable Camaro ever made—and that’s saying something. The 1LE package, according to Chevy officials, improves performance across the entire Chevy lineup, but none quite as much as the ZL1. The ZL1 1LE performed three seconds faster than the ZL1 Coupe on GM’s 2.9-mile Milford Road Course test track.
The 1LE package improves upon the ZL1 in terms of aerodynamics, wheels and tires, weight, and suspension. The carbon fiber rear wing, air deflectors, and dive planes help air pass over the ZL1 1LE more efficiently, letting it glide through the air and pick up more speed. The ZL1 1LE comes with a 650-horsepower supercharged engine and includes a variety of track-ready parts including Brembo brakes.
The lightweight suspension dampers allow for exceptional drive control, and rear stabilizer bar offers three-way adjustability. New tires and wheels give the car more contact with the ground, and their lighter weight, along with the lighter dampers, reduced rear glass thickness, and a fixed-back rear seat, let the car move forward more easily.
